Mateo is a member of the trading team covering the execution of equity and exchange-traded funds globally. Mateo graduated from Universidad de America‘s Industrial Engineering program in Colombia in 2015. Mateo joined Cidel in 2017 and completed the Canadian Securities Course in 2018.
Pierre joined Cidel’s predecessor, AMI Partners, in 2007 as an assistant portfolio manager specializing in small cap Canadian equities. He was promoted to partner in 2010. Pierre has extensive investment experience selecting Canadian equities as an executive and previously served as a research analyst at a major Canadian financial institution. He is a CFA charterholder. Before beginning his investment career, Pierre was an aerospace engineering officer with the Department of National Defence.
Stephen Caldwell,CA, CFA
Stephen joined AMI Partners, now part of Cidel, in 2010 with 17 years of cumulative experience in investment analysis, portfolio management, client service and sales. He has nine years of experience with with two major Canadian financial/investment organizations, which prior to joining Cidel he worked for a major U.K.-based international money manager. Stephen is a graduate of Manchester University in Accounting and Law, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.
Barry Da Silva,CFA
Assistant Vice President, Senior Analyst, Portfolio Manager, Cidel Asset Management Inc.
Barry is a member of the Canadian equity team and is responsible for covering the energy sector. Prior to joining Cidel, Barry was a portfolio manager and analyst at a large Canadian life insurance company, as well as at one of Canada’s largest pension plans. He also served as an investment analyst at a Canadian-based asset management company performing fundamental research across various sectors. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto and CFA charterholder. Barry is a past member of the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame finance committee.
Matthew is responsible for Cidel’s alternative investment mandates and third party manager research efforts. He oversees the sourcing, due diligence, and selection of third party managers at the firm. Matthew is also a member of Cidel’s ESG Committee. Prior to joining Cidel in 2018, Matthew was Vice President and a core member of the investment team at Optima Fund Management LLC – an NYC-based alternative investment firm specializing in hedge fund multi-manager programs and advisory services.
Matthew currently serves as a member of the Leadership Development Advisory Council of Capitalize For Kids (C4K). He is a graduate of Brown University (Providence, RI) where he received a BA in Economics and holds both the Investment Management Techniques (IMT®) certificate and the Canadian Securities Course (CSC®) certificate with honours from the Canadian Securities Institute.
Brad is Cidel Bank Canada’s Chief Risk Officer, Cidel Asset Management Inc.’s Chief Compliance Officer and a member of the management committee. In previous roles at the firm, he was responsible for managing of private client relationships, structuring and business development initiatives, and compliance. Prior to joining Cidel in 2000, Brad was an account manager at HSBC Bank Canada in the Corporate Banking Group. Brad holds a BBA from York University, Schulich School of Business, is a CFA charterholder, and is a member of both the Toronto CFA Society and the CFA Institute.
Robert W. Gibson,CFA
Senior Vice President, Portfolio Manager, Head of Canadian Equity Mandates, Cidel Asset Management Inc.
Bob joined the Canadian equity team of AMI Partners, now part of Cidel, in 1999 as senior portfolio manager. He is head of Canadian equities and responsible for research in the financial services sector. He has 38 years of experience in investment management and spent 15 years with a large institutional money manager between 1984 and 1999 before joining AMI Partners. Bob holds a CFA charter, an MBA from Queen’s University and a BA from the University of Toronto. Bob is also chair of the Casey House Foundation investment committee.ee.
Chief Executive Officer, Chief Investment Officer, Cidel Asset Management Inc.
Arthur is responsible for Cidel’s asset management operations and chairs the investment committee. He oversees the trading, research, operations, and compliance activities of the firm. A Chartered Financial Analyst with a 25-year career in the financial services industry, Arthur frequently lectures on capital markets at seminars and is a contributing subject matter expert for the Stalla CFA review program. He is a past director of several Canadian mutual fund companies and a past director of the Toronto CFA Society.
Arthur currently serves on the finance board of the University of Toronto as well as the following boards: The Scarborough Hospital Foundation, Integra Foundation, Victoria Village Hockey League and chairing financial service program advisory committee at George Brown College. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto.
Senior Institutional Director, Portfolio Manager, Cidel Asset Management Inc.
Catherine is a Senior Director of Institutional Asset Management at Cidel. She is responsible for the design and delivery of institutional strategy as it applies to business development initiatives, consultant relations and client service. She has over two decades of experience in client-facing roles across several industries including the past 10+ years in institutional asset management. Prior to joining Cidel, Catherine was a senior leader at one of Canada’s largest asset management firms and, previous to that, she was a partner with a prominent Canadian asset management firm.
Over the years Catherine has worked with consultants, pensions, endowments, distribution platforms and high-net worth individuals.
Catherine served in the Canadian Naval Reserve as a commissioned officer. She is a member of the Memorial University of Newfoundland GTA Alumni Advisory Board; she received a B.Comm (Co-op) from the University and is a CFA charterholder.
Assistant Vice President, Senior Analyst, Portfolio Manager, Cidel Asset Management Inc.
Raj is responsible for supporting the creation and implementation of long-term asset allocations across multiple asset classes, for discretionary and advisory portfolios. Raj has previously worked as an analyst in the Private Investments division at JP Morgan Chase in New York, as a financial engineer at Algorithmics in Toronto and as an analyst at IBM. Raj received a Masters of Science in financial mathematics from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2005 and a Bachelors of Science in computer science & applied mathematics from New Jersey Institute of Technology in 2002. He is a CFA charterholder and a member of the Toronto CFA Society and the CFA Institute.
Senior Vice President, Portfolio Manager, Head of Equities, Cidel Asset Management Inc.
Charles manages Cidel’s equity team and serves as lead manager on the Cidel Global Equity strategy and its various Balanced strategies. Prior to joining Cidel in 2004, he worked a major accounting firm’s corporate finance practice and for a mutual fund firm. He has a BA and MBA degrees from the University of Toronto.
Gary is a member of the fixed income team and is the lead manager who oversees portfolio construction, risk management, and credit research across the mandates. His role encompasses all aspects of portfolio management including portfolio oversight, fixed income analysis (interest rates, corporate credit, yield curve), and trading across government bonds, investment grade bonds, high yield bonds, convertible bonds and preferred shares. Prior to joining Cidel, Gary worked at a large Canadian financial institution and a U.S. owned investment firm managing both retail and institutional mandates. He started his career as a high yield credit analyst and progressed to high yield portfolio manager before moving on to managing investment grade mandates and government bonds. Gary has a bachelor of commerce from the University of Saskatchewan, an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and is a CFA charterholder.
Cameron is an investment analyst working on both the Global and Canadian equity teams. He is responsible for covering the consumer staples and real estate industries. He graduated from Ryerson University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Commerce and is a CFA charterholder.
Geoff is the chairman and co-founder of Cidel. He is a director of a number of other international manufacturing and financial companies, including Tricon Capital which he co-founded. He has a sustained record of volunteer work in Canada: he is an honorary director and past chair of the board of directors of the Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care; a past member of the board of the Canadian Opera Company; the board of Mount Sinai Hospital and the board of Governing Council of the University of Toronto, where he currently chairs the Pension and Endowment Investment Advisory Committee. Geoff is a member of the board and chair of the Real Estate Committee of the MaRS Discovery District.
In 2005, Geoff was a recipient of the Jewish Federation award for outstanding service to the community. In 2010, he received the Arbor Award for outstanding service to the University of Toronto and in 2011 he was honoured as “Man of Distinction” by the Israel Cancer Research Fund. Born and raised in South Africa, Geoff graduated with Bachelor of Commerce and LLB from Wits University, and received a Law Degree from Columbia University in New York. While at Wits, Geoff was a co-founder of The Legal Resource Centre in South Africa, when he was the President of the Wits Law Students Council.
Bill McKay,CFA, CAIA
Senior Vice President, Portfolio Manager, Head of Multi Asset Class Mandates, Cidel Asset Management Inc.
Bill is chairman of Cidel’s asset allocation committee, a member of the investment committee, and head of the multi-asset class team. His responsibilities include managing a range of discretionary portfolios and investment products and liaising with clients. Prior to joining Cidel, Bill worked with UBS Canada where he served as a director and portfolio manager for high-net-worth clients. Bill was also deputy head of the UBS Canadian Equity team. Prior to that role, he held an advisory role for offshore clients, for whom he provided advice on asset allocation, portfolio construction and security selection. He has a wide variety of experience in equity and fixed income analysis, foreign exchange, and alternative investments.
Bill is both a CFA and CAIA charterholder, a member of the Toronto CFA Society, the CFA Institute and the CAIA Association.
Anojan is a member of the Equity team and provides multi-industry coverage. Anojan also leads the quantitative research efforts at the firm. Prior to joining Cidel, he was an analyst at a global healthcare consulting firm. Anojan joind Cidel in 2016. He is a CFA charterholder with a BASc in Engineering Science from the University of Toronto. Anojan is a facilitator at the Centre for Leadership and Innovation, a non-profit organization that aims to empower underprivileged youth. He is also a member of the Project Sunshine Young Patron’s Circle.
Ron Patton,CFA, CPA, CA
Senior Vice President, Portfolio Manager, Head of Canadian Investment Mandates, Cidel Asset Management Inc.
Ron served as president and chief executive officer of AMI Partners, now part of Cidel. He currently sits on the executive committee with leadership responsibilities, and investment management and client relationship roles. Ron became a became bond trader in 1991 and later a portfolio manager specializing in fixed income. Prior to joining Cidel, he worked at a major accounting firm in the Business Valuations and Litigation Support Group. He is a CFA charterholder and graduate of Sir Wilfrid Laurier University.
Cemre currently leads the Portfolio Analytics practice, and his main responsibilities include performance measurement and attribution for Cidel’s strategies. He brings with him prior credit research experience from S&P Global Ratings. Cemre joined Cidel in December 2017, he holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree in Economics from the University of Toronto and is a Financial Risk Manager (FRM) charterholder.
Henry is President of Cidel Bank Canada, Vice Chairman of Cidel Asset Management Inc. and a member of the Cidel management committee. He is responsible for Cidel’s Canadian operations. Henry first joined Cidel in 2003, then served as chief operating officer of AFL Investments Limited (2005-2008), a Bermuda-based financial services firm, before re-joining Cidel in 2009. Henry is a director of The Mabin School. Henry holds an MA from the University of Cambridge.

James is an experienced financial services leader and draws on significant industry knowledge in his role as head of Canadian and institutional business at Cidel. James is responsible for private wealth, institutional and third-party distribution channels. Prior to joining Cidel, James held executive roles in the wealth management divisions of a large Canadian bank and a global bank’s Canadian and US operations. He is the past chair of the investment industry trade association’s national wealth management committee. He volunteers as Board Chair at the Child Development Institute, an organisation serving children, youth and their families through early childhood education and innovative programs in mental health. James is a CFA charterholder.
Craig is the CEO of Cidel. Prior to joining Cidel as a co-founder in 1999, he was a managing director in CIBC World Markets’ Financial Products Division and worked in the derivatives division of Bankers Trust Company.
He is a member of the Pension and Endowment Investment Advisory Committee to The President of the University of Toronto, a member of the investment committee at Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care’s Foundation and Board of Directors of Robbins Hebrew Academy.
Craig was previously a director of the UJA Federation of Greater Toronto, co-chair of the Baycrest investment committee, treasurer of both the Baycrest Centre and the Baycrest Foundation, and President of Robbins Hebrew Academy.
Craig graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BSc in economics from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton Business School.
EVP, International Business Development and Marketing, Cidel Asset Management Inc.
Hilton joined Cidel in 1999 and currently heads international business development and marketing for the group. He is also a member of the management committee. Prior to joining Cidel, Hilton was head of broker distribution for Liberty Life Association of Africa Limited and member of the executive governing body. He is also the past chair of the ethics committee for the Life Underwriters Association of South Africa. Hilton qualified from the Institute of Marketing Management in 1984.
Ben Thalman,CFA, CAIA
Ben is an investment analyst and part of the fixed income and trading team. He is responsible for assisting in fixed income trading, analysis and research as well as trading and management of the fundamental index funds. Ben received a MSc in financial economics from L’Université de Montréal in 2011 and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology & economics from the University of Waterloo in 2006.
He is a CFA and CAIA charter holder, and a member of the Toronto CFA Society, the CFA Institute and the CAIA Association.
Julie is a member of the Cidel Multi-Asset Class team and is responsible for supporting the research, analysis and implementation of long-term discretionary portfolios as well as external alternative asset managers across multiple asset classes. Julie received a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from Ryerson University in 2018 and is a CFA candidate.
Tracy Zimak,CFP, TEP, CIM ®
Tracy is a Director of Institutional Asset Management at Cidel. She is responsible for client services, business development, and consultant relations in Western Canada.
Tracy has more than 35 years of experience in the Canadian institutional marketplace, mainly within the pension and investment sectors. Over those years, she has worked with clients of all types, public and private sector organizations, corporate defined benefit and multi-employer pension plans, endowments, foundations, religious communities, First Nations, financial institutions and family businesses.
She is a passionate Albertan, having served on many community associations and governance committees in the province.
Tracy has earned the CFP, TEP, and CIM designations.
